DURATITE ACHIEVES EXPORT SALES MILESTONE
Erie, Pennsylvania-------Dura-Tite Systems™, LLC, soon to be headquartered at the Erie Technology Incubator developed and introduced a revolutionary plastic fitting to the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning industry in 2006 and was just awarded The Export Achievement Certificate at the U.S. Commercial Services and Gannon University SBDC Luncheon. The award was accepted by DuraTite’s CEO, James Karnes and Director of Marketing & Sales, Stacy Corapi following the Business Development Conference & Expo sponsored by Congressman Phil English. The Export Achievement Certificate was created to recognize small and medium-sized enterprises that have successfully entered the international marketplace for the first time. “By fully utilizing the resources the federal government has to offer small businesses, DuraTite Systems capitalized on new export opportunities and successfully expanded their business and retained jobs in our region,” said Congressman Phil English. “I congratulate DuraTite for their success as an economic engine within the Erie community.”
Since the company’s inception, DuraTite Systems’ CEO, James Karnes, has viewed international sales as an important component in DuraTite’s growth and development strategy. It is no surprise then that, from the very beginning, DuraTite Systems has relied on the U.S. Commercial Services, Gannon University SBDC and the Northwest Commission for help in developing export sales.
Through a combination of consulting and market research, the U.S. Commercial Service in conjunction with the other export assistance organizations, helped DuraTite Systems make their first export sale to Mexico and helped open up the Middle East Market in 2007. After visiting Dubai for a trade show, DuraTite also secured a distributor in Australia and shipped a 20’ container to Melbourne this past June. DuraTite is currently finalizing negotiations for a 40’ container to be sent to the Middle East in August. “The Business Development Conference I attended in 2007 was invaluable to DuraTite and gave us a much better understanding of how to target and evaluate potential customers abroad and ultimately how to best structure export transactions,” according to Karnes.
With the information gained at this conference and the ongoing assistance form U.S. Commercial Services, The Northwest Commission, and the Gannon University SBDC, DuraTite Systems has been able to evaluate potential markets and distributors, visit those markets to meet potential customers, and finalize the sales that make up 70% of DuraTite’s 2008 revenue to date.
The DuraTite duct take off is used on forced air systems for both commercial and residential construction markets, as well as other OEM applications. DuraTite now offers six sizes including a 5”, 6”, 7”, 8”, 10” and 12” take offs, and still has plans to add 4” and 9” sizes, saddle take offs, square to round and other energy efficient system components in the near future. DuraTite’s take off collar provides airtight connections, installs 10 times faster than metal, eliminates personal injury, decreases Workers’ Comp claims and reduces costs associated with extra sealants necessary with current metal installation methods. Contractors and installers can find DuraTite take offs at their local HVAC distribution center, or they can get a free sample by calling DuraTite at 814-464-0235 or visiting www.duratite.com.
